Consultation
Receive a psychologist's perspective on a challenging situation, client, ethical dilemma, etc.
Service Description
Want a professional consultation with a licensed psychologist? These meetings can cover a range of topics and be sought out for a variety of reasons. Unlike psychotherapy or coaching, consultation is not necessarily an ongoing relationship between the client and the psychologist. Instead, the consultation process is more time-limited and focused on a situation, a goal, or a need for input. Clients are of course welcome to reach back out in the future for further consultation sessions! Additionally, consultation can be for more than just 1 individual as the client, but it is important to clarify who the client is (e.g. an individual, a team, an organization, etc) when seeking out a consultation. Consultation can be for situations like the following. 1) Another fully licensed mental health professional who is seeking additional professional input: For an ethical dilemma and to meet the ethical requirements to consult & document their consultation For risk management For a challenging clinical case For their own professional & personal development For their supervision of a supervisee For a business-related concern 2) Another professional seeking professional input from a mental health provider: To inform their decision-making To receive input (non-diagnostic) on a client they are working with To gain another perspective on the potential mental health impact of something on themselves, their colleagues, supervisees, etc. 3) Non-individual clients (e.g. a business, a church, a non-profit, a training program) seeking professional input to help: Resolve an ethical dilemma Address specific incidents that have arisen Analyze and respond to systemic issues in their program Cast vision and set priorities for future growth Improve collaboration and interpersonal dynamics in existing team Address diversity-related concerns and multicultural issues
